North Suburban Needle Arts Guild welcomes Julie Sanford

The guest speaker for the October meeting of the North Suburban Needle Arts Guild is Julie Sanford, an art educator, jewelry instructor and studio artist. Her lecture, "Creative Design" is designed to help the artist understand the dynamics of design fundamentals and how they relate to compelling compositions.

Sanford has been a silver jewelry artist in Western Michigan for over 25 years. Her education includes a bachelor of arts degree in art education from Western Michigan University. Sanford's teaching experience includes teaching visual art in the classroom with an emphasis on art history, ceramics and jewelry. She has won numerous awards for her work in jewelry and was the 2010 Grand Prize Winner of the Jewelry Design Challenge sponsored by Rio Grande Jewelry Supply and Lark Books.

The Needle Arts guild's general meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Gloria Dei Church, 1133 Pfingsten Road, Northbrook. Guests are welcome. There is no charge for first-time guests. Sanford's lecture will follow the business meeting.

The North Suburban Needle Arts Guild is a Chicago area organization that draws members from Wisconsin, Indiana and the greater Chicago area.
