The hard truths on city violence

Last weekend, eight people were killed and 45 were wounded in Chicago. If just one of them were killed by a white police officer, it would have been front page news across America.

But because 90-plus percent were shot in poor black neighborhoods and 90-plus percent of them were shot by fellow blacks, the news media didn't think it was worth commenting on.

Instead of focusing on the true causes of this inhuman violence, which starts with the destruction of the African-American family and the fact that 70 percent of black children are raised without a father, the media and liberals like to blame guns. But that logic doesn't hold up when you consider that Switzerland has the highest gun ownership in the world with the lowest rate of gun murders in the world.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Innocent blacks will continue to be killed by fellow blacks until society has the courage to address the real cause of this tragedy, the destruction of the black family and a freak show media that glorifies gun violence to make billions of dollars.

Where is "Black Lives Matter" regarding the 45 blacks shot last weekend in Chicago? Ninety-three percent of blacks are murdered by fellow blacks and only 0.014 percent of blacks who are shot are shot by the police during arrests.

Sadly the killing will continue until society has the courage to deal with the hard facts.
