Prairie Crossing Farm to host Fall Festival

Visit the Prairie Crossing Farm in Grayslake during the Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. Enjoy a free hayride tour of this working organic farm and support the farmers growing local food for the Chicago region. This free educational event will be held rain or shine, with some activities dependent on the weather.
Stock up on fall vegetables and other farm products with a pop-up farmers market and engage in a variety of educational activities. Participating farm businesses include Duck Tail Farm, Gretta's Goats, Radical Root Farm, Sandhill Family Farms and Yaw-Ye Farms.
Participants in the Prairie Farm Corps youth development program will also sell certified organic vegetables they have grown. Celebrate another successful year of the independent farm businesses at the Prairie Crossing Farm that are producing sustainable local food for Chicagoland.
Free hayride tours with Jeff Miller of Sandhill Family Farms will depart at 10:15 and 11:15 a.m. from the Yellow Farmhouse parking lot. Parents are required to ride with their children and provide supervision during this educational farm tour. Farm visitors will meet some of the farm animals and learn about organic agriculture on a working farm.
The Prairie Crossing Farm is at 32400 N. Harris Road in Grayslake. Enter Prairie Crossing via Route 45 at Jones Point Road and follow the signs to the farm. Event parking will be on both sides of Harris Road (don't block the neighbors' driveways).
Reserved parking for vehicles displaying disability/handicap plates or placards will be in the Yellow Farmhouse parking lot at the entrance to the event. The farm is a no smoking facility.
