Woodlands Hosts its First Exchange Students of the Year

Woodlands Academy has welcomed its first Sacred Heart exchange students of the 2015-16 school year. A student from Kincoppal-Rose Bay Sacred Heart School in Sydney, Australia, Lucy Edwards, arrived the week of Sept. 14. Minae Aoki and Akane Mori from Sapporo Sacred Heart School in Sapporo, Japan, arrived a week later. They all will be spending three weeks at the all-girls college prep high school in Lake Forest.

This year's exchange program will once again be filled with a variety of international experiences for Woodlands Academy students and their families. The school will host another Japanese exchange student, this time from Tokyo, between Oct. 24 and Nov. 7. Other visitors will include students from Chile in February, Austria and Mexico in March, and France in April. The reciprocal exchange program also provides opportunities for Woodlands students to spend time at Sacred Heart schools abroad.

As part of a network of schools that spans the U.S. and 40 other countries on six continents, Woodlands Academy can offer its students unique opportunities for a premiere global education experience. The school is in the process of establishing the Center for Global Studies program to educate and engage students in experiences equipping them with a global perspective. The Center also plans to offer programs, community events and speaker series at the Gloria Dei Center (the former Barat College Cooney Library building that's now part of Woodlands' recently dedicated expanded campus.)
