District 15 workshop focuses on crisis response

The Northwest Suburban Council of PTA/PTSA is inviting parents of District 15 students to attend its first presentation of the 2015-16 school year, a parent education workshop titled "Parent Roles and Responsibilities During a School Crisis: D15 School Crisis Management Plan."

The workshop will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at Walter R. Sundling Junior High, 1100 N. Smith St., Palatine.

During the workshop, Officer Jeff Schlee of the Palatine Police Department will teach parents their roles and responsibilities if a crisis should occur at a school their children attend. Parents will learn what to do if they ever get that phone call or email informing them that such an incident has occurred, and what to do if they are inside a school when a crisis occurs.

Should a crisis ever occur, it is the responsibility of everyone - first responders, school officials, and parents - to do their part to minimize the chaos that has occurred and rebuild as a community.
