Artist at Barrington White House Thursday

The Barrington White House, 145 W. Main St., is hosting an evening with artist Michael Latala Thursday and an open house Saturday and Sunday. The award-winning Skokie artist will show how he works using pastels and conté crayon from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 24. Latala, who specializes in landscapes, figures and still life in oils and pastel, has had his work exhibited at the Chicago Cultural Center, the Irish American Heritage Center, the Beverly Art Center and other venues. The program is free and does not require advance registration. And from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, area residents are invited to view the renovation at the historic mansion, now a community and cultural center. Visitors will have a chance to tour the 1898 home and see the new event spaces and the ballroom.
