Library to install Little Free Library in Willow Trails Park, September 26

The Indian Trails Public Library District is excited to announce a Little Free Library will be installed Saturday, September 26, 2 p.m., in Willow Trails Park, 1 Apple Drive, Prospect Heights. Everyone is invited to attend the ribbon cutting; refreshments will be served.

The Little Free Library, a small house-like structure, will be stocked with a variety of free quality books that residents can take to read. Books may be returned to the Little Free Library for others to enjoy. Donations for the little library may be left at the Little Free Library or the Indian Trails Library Branch 99 E. Palatine Rd., Prospect Heights.

The library worked with the River Trails Park District to secure a location that would benefit the greatest number of residents. "The River Trails Park District has supported this project from the beginning," said Nataliya Papushina, branch manager. "They offered us a location in the park and will install the library for the community."

Indian Trails Library received the Little Free Library as a donation from an anonymous donor. The libraries cost between $300 and $500 if purchased directly from Little Free Library.

The Little Free Library is a movement started by Todd Bol and Rick Brooks in 2010, and has grown to include little libraries in most states and dozens of countries. The mission of the organization is to promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide. Find out more at littlefreelibrary.org.
