District 96 dedicates two new middle school tracks

Two new tracks in Kildeer Countryside Elementary District 96 will officially be opened Oct. 8. A ceremony at 8 a.m., at Twin Groves Middle School, 2600 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove, will open the 200-meter oval track, which was done in collaboration with the Buffalo Grove Park District and includes pickleball courts and areas for sprints and long jumps. At 9:15 a.m. the 400-meter oval at Woodlawn Middle School, 6362 Gilmer Road, Long Grove, will be dedicated. It meets Illinois Elementary Sports Association track and field requirements for hosting meets. Rain date for the ribbon-cuttings is Oct. 13. Last year, more than 430 District 96 middle school students participated in cross country and/or track.
