Tuesday Morning Quarterback

Daily Herald Report

Name: Ryan Culhane

School: Naperville Central Year: Senior

Best thing about being an offensive lineman: I definitely think we embody the whole team mentality on the line. You can't have one player take one play off. We are all a cohesive unit, and you don't see that a lot.

Worst thing about being an offensive lineman: Getting caught on the bottom of a pile is pretty bad, but you just hope the pile is 3 or 4 yards downfield.

Don't tell my coach that: A couple of guys on the team - not me - have a pretty good impression of (Naperville Central coach Mike Stine).

If I could change one thing about football: The stigma that if you play football you're going to get hurt. As long as you play safely and play smart, you can play for a lot of years and be perfectly safe.

Team not on our schedule I wish we could play: Probably Benet. We play all the District 203 and 204 schools already. I'd like to play Benet and see who's better.

How I'll celebrate if I score a TD: That'd be crazy. I'd probably celebrate with my linemates and then tell my line coach I want to be a tight end.

Twitter, Facebook or Instagram: I'd say Instagram or Snapchat. I like the visual nature of it. Reading about something is one thing, but they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

What I like best about my school: The community. Everyone's accepting of each other. The staff's done a great job making Naperville Central a community.

Something about me that would surprise you: I'm really into my church youth group (at St. Raphael in Naperville). We meet every Thursday and I lead two or three retreats every year through that.

Other sports I play: I played baseball until the winter of my junior year. Last year I threw shot and discus (in track and field).

Favorite actor: Robert Downey Jr. He's always kind of playing himself as an eccentric guy. He kind of uses a little bit of himself in all his roles.

Favorite actress: Amy Poehler is really funny. She knows how to bring a character to life, and everything she writes is hilarious.

Favorite athlete: Either (the Cubs') Kris Bryant, (the Cubs') Anthony Rizzo or (the Bears') Kyle Long. Bryant's a guy who just goes about his business. Rizzo was one of the first guys with this new group and he's a leader. I follow Kyle Long on Twitter. He's a really interesting, honest guy.

Favorite musician: I listen to all kinds of music, but the band I have the most music of on my phone is AC/DC.

The quote

"I told our guys, we're not leaving here without a win. I don't care if it's midnight."

- Lake Park coach Chris Roll after enduring lightning delays before and during Friday's 7-0 victory over Naperville North.

The stat

Trailing Glenbard East 17-7 with 2:39 left in the third quarter, Glenbard North gained 233 of its 408 yards of offense and scored 34 unanswered points.
