Autumn Fair a hit at Peck Farm

Pumpkins, pony rides and plenty of people paraded through the annual Autumn Fair Saturday at Peck Farm in Geneva.

The day included family activities, children's games, crafts, a birds of prey exhibit and musical entertainment. Patrons could mingle with animals in a petting zoo, as well as learn how to milk a cow.

The park district was hoping to see 2,500 to 3,000 people at the fair, according to Traci Wicks, director of marketing and public relations.

Wicks says the event typically raises $15,000 to $20,000, which will be used for Geneva Park District special projects.

Two-year-old Austin Gilchrist of Sugar Grove was enjoying himself running between the pumpkins and the petting zoo.

"I love this event," said Autumn Gilchrist. "It's very family-friendly and also very kid-friendly."

Admission was free with minimal fees for some activities, food and drinks.

Visitors also could test their luck by purchasing tickets for $5 each to win raffle baskets filled with products and services from local businesses.

"This popular event is a great kickoff to fall, providing an afternoon of affordable entertainment for all ages," said Sheavoun Lambillotte, executive director of the Geneva Park District and secretary of the Geneva Park District Foundation.
