North Suburban Week 4 matchups

Lake Forest Scouts (2-1, 0-1) at Libertyville Wildcats (3-0, 1-0)

When: 7:30 p.m., Friday

Last week: Lake Forest lost to Warren, 34-28; Libertyville def. Zion-Benton, 41-0.

Skinny: Libertyville racked up 329 rushing yards last week against Zion-Benton and superstar quarterback Riley Lees (147 yards) wasn't even the biggest gainer. Running back Noah Moderwell finished with 160 yards on 16 rushes. Lees also completed 6-of-14 passes for 97 yards. Linebacker Ryan Maher had 2 interceptions and 10 tackles. Lake Forest gave up a 100-yard rushing game to Warren's Darrius Crump last week. The Scouts also gave up an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Zion-Benton Zee-Bees (2-1, 0-1) at Lake Zurich Bears (0-3, 0-1)

When: 7:30 p.m., Friday

Last week: Zion-Benton lost to Libertyville, 41-0; Lake Zurich lost to Stevenson, 38-35.

Skinny: Lake Zurich's new stadium improvements will be unveiled as the Bears play their first home game of the season, post-construction. There is a new press box and home-side bleachers to show off. Lake Zurich hopes to play off the energy. The Bears have yet to get a win and lost their second game by 3 points last week. Against Stevenson, quarterback Joey Lindstrom completed 10-of-20 passes for 119 yards and 2 touchdowns while running back Kyle Roth recorded his first 100-yard rushing game of the season (19 rushes, 118 yards). Zion-Benton totaled just 134 yards of offense and 9 first downs last week against Libertyville.

Wauconda Bulldogs (1-2) at Stevenson (2-1)

When: 7:30 p.m., Friday

Last week: Wauconda def. Round Lake, 40-0; Stevenson def. Lake Zurich, 38-35.

Skinny: When these teams last played each other, in 2011, Wauconda nearly pulled off a huge upset. In the midst of a 2-7 season, the Bulldogs lost only 13-12 in Lincolnshire to a Stevenson team that reached the Class 8A state quarterfinals. This year's Wauconda team got a much-needed win last week over Round Lake after being swept by R-B - Richmond-Burton and Riverside-Brookfield - to open the season. Kevin Malisheski threw a pair of TD passes in helping the Bulldogs open a 27-0 lead by halftime. ... Stevenson got 3 touchdown receptions from tight end Matt Norton in its win over Lake Zurich. QB Jack Sorenson threw 4 touchdown passes and ran for 1.

Antioch Sequoits (2-1, 0-1) at Round Lake Panthers (0-3, 0-1)

When: 7:30 p.m., Friday

Last week: Antioch lost to Lakes, 14-9; Round Lake lost to Wauconda, 40-0.

Skinny: Antioch was kept out of the end zone until the fourth quarter against Lakes. The Sequoits got a career-best 138 yards rushing yards from fullback Nick Dorosan and 92 from halfback Griffin Hill, who scored his sixth touchdown of the season. In his first varsity start, sophomore QB John Petty completed 1 of 4 passes. ... Round Lake has scored just 9 points, while allowing 137.

Grant Bulldogs (0-3, 0-1) at Lakes Eagles (1-2, 1-0)

When: 7:30 p.m., Friday

Last week: Grant lost to Vernon Hills, 21-18; Lakes def. Antioch, 14-9.

Skinny: Grant nearly pulled off its first win of the season last Friday, surrendering a touchdown pass in the final 3:15 of the fourth quarter against Vernon Hills. The Bulldogs got 7 catches, including a TD, from Kemar Miller, while sophomore running back Kenyon Jones rushed 34 times for 120 yards and a TD in his varsity debut. ... Lakes junior Cameron Ruiz made his first start at running back against Antioch and responded by rushing for 117 yards and both of his team's touchdowns. The Eagles' win extended their NSC Prairie winning streak to 22 games.

Vernon Hills (3-0, 1-0) at North Chicago (1-2, 0-0)

When: 7:30 p.m., Friday

Last week: Vernon Hills def. Grant, 21-18; North Chicago lost to Mundelein, 55-6.

Skinny: Connor McNamara's 23-yard touchdown pass to Jonathan McGuire with 3:15 left in the fourth quarter against Grant last Friday night gave Vernon Hills its first 3-0 start since 2010. That year the Cougars started 7-0 and went to the state quarterfinals en route to a 10-2 campaign. ... North Chicago has allowed 118 points.
