Hersey picks up 20th straight MSL East win

Hersey's girls volleyball team won its 20th straight match in the Mid-Suburban East with a 25-6, 25-13 victory over visiting Wheeling on Tuesday night.

Katie Rozanski (5 kills), Liz Fuerst (4) and Amy Morgan (40 led the attack for the Huskies (6-4, 2-0), which was set by Maggie Reisel (5 assists) and Emma Strozewski (9).

Barrington d. Fremd: Host Barrington improved to 5-10 and 2-0 in the MSL West with a 25-18, 25-23 victory.

The Fillies host Conant at 6 p.m. today.

Sara Ganas (3 kills), Ysabel Lee (3 kills) and Becca Stapleton (2) led the attack for Fremd (7-4, 0-2).

Conant d. Hoffman Estates: Ayla Kljako (5 kills), Rachel Delanois (4 kills, 5 aces), Ester Cho (11 digs), Kelly Czerpak (7 assists, 8 digs) and Michaela Vasalos (8 assists) were among the leaders for Conant (3-11, 1-1) in its 25-18, 25-11 MSL West victory.

Hannah Saurbler had 5 kills for the Hawks (0-8, 0-2) and Jennifer Nailor added 4.

Prospect d. Elk Grove: Led on attack by Kaeli Myers (5 kills), Maggie Porwit (5), Sammy Withey (4), Brenda Kendziera (3) and Mary Mazurek (3), visiting Prospect earned a 25-16, 26-16 MSL East triumph.

Senior setter Maggie Haaning handed out 14 assists for the Knights (4-2, 2-0).

Rachel Kandefer (4 kills) and Mackenzie Vetter (2) paced the attack for the Grenadiers (1-9, 0-2).

Rolling Meadows d. Buffalo Grove: Visiting Rolling Meadows improved to 10-4-1 and 1-1 in the MSL East with a 26-24, 25-22 victory.

Jenny Srnak (7 kills), Maddie Sellergren (5) and Hannah Mickey (4) paced the attack for Meadows which received 2 aces from Megan Mich.

Megan King (12 assists) and Mich 21-21 (8) set the offense.

BG (2-9, 0-2) was paced by Dana Stutzman (7 kills), Kanella Kalyviaris (4) and Nadia Tarasova (3) while Anna Fasuna had 13 assists and Hannah Schuler 10.

Maine West d Deerfield: The host Warriors (4-7, 1-0) began play in the CSL North with a 20-25, 25-19, 25-21 victory as Allison Grzebien led the way with 11 kills, 3 blocks and 9 digs.

Hannah Kuhn recorded 18 assists to go along with 11 digs while sophomore Sophia Saldana added 12 digs, 2 aces, and 2 kills.

St. Viator d. Marian Central: The host Lions (9-7, 1-1) posted a 25-22, 25-20 ESCC victory as Alyssa Forbes had 5 aces for the Lions. Teammate Kendall Claffey added 4 with a team-high 3 kills. Michaela Mueller handed out 10 assists and libero Ellie Meyer had a team-high 13.

CLA d. Mooseheart: Cassie Swiderek had 5 aces and 5 kills while Emily Naubert put down 6 kills to help lead Christian Liberty to a 25-18, 25-8 victory.

Leyden d. Willowbrook: Host Leyden (10-1, 2-0) earned a 25-23, 25-17 victory as senior outside hitter Emily Steininger helped lead the way with 9 kills and 2 aces.
