Palatine Twp. man dies after reaction from bee sting

A 49-year-old Palatine-area man died Sunday after suffering an anaphylactic reaction from a bee sting, authorities said Tuesday.

Guy Jacobucci phoned 911 after 4 p.m. Sunday to say that he was stung by a bee and having an adverse reaction, said Sophia Ansari, a spokeswoman for the Cook County sheriff's office.

Deputies and paramedics arrived to Jacobucci's house in unincorporated Palatine Township and attempted lifesaving measures before transporting him to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Ansari said. He was later pronounced dead at 5:20 p.m.

An autopsy determined Jacobucci's death was accidental, attributing it to the anaphylactic reaction from the bee sting, according to the medical examiner's office.

Jacobucci was a senior vice president at Assurance in Schaumburg and spent 20 years in the insurance industry, according to his LinkedIn profile. He also was an avid chef and was profiled in July by the Daily Herald as a cook of the week.

For Palatine man, cooking is a labor of love, fun
