GOP Fall Rally set for Sept. 20 at Geneva ballpark

Meet national, state and local candidates and learn how to get involved at the GOP Fall Rally from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Fifth Third Ballpark in Geneva.

Join in petition signings, participate in a presidential straw poll, meet the candidates in an informal venue, visit local organizations working to promote Republican principles, and enjoy a good old-fashioned ballpark cookout. National, state, and county GOP candidates have been invited. The all-you-can-eat ballpark cookout includes hot dogs, brats, hamburgers, chicken, sides, dessert, and beverages. There will be a cash bar. Ozzie, the Kane County Cougars mascot, will kick off the event.

Speakers include Dan Proft and Joe Walsh of AM560 WIND radio, and the emcee will be DuPage County Auditor Bob Grogan. Scheduled to attend are U. S. Congressman Randy Hultgren (14th District), Tonia Khouri who is running in the 11th District, state senators Jim Oberweis (25th District) and Karen McConnaughay (33rd District), and state representatives Mike Fortner (49th District), Keith Wheeler (50th), Barb Wheeler (64th District), Steven Andersson (65th), Robert Pritchard (70th), John Anthony (75th), and Mark Batinick (97th) will also attend.

Local officeholders in attendance will be Kane County Board Chairman Chris Lauzen, Kane County State's Attorney Joe McMahon, Kane County Auditor Terry Hunt, Kane County Circuit Clerk and Kane GOP Chair Tom Hartwell, Kane County Board Member Drew Frasz (District 18), and Kendall County GOP Chair Jessica Bannister.

Other candidates and speakers may be added, and the line-up is subject to change.

The invocation will be given by the Rev. Corey Brooks of New Beginnings Church and Project Hood (Helping Others Obtain Destiny). Additional speakers include Pat Hughes of the Illinois Opportunity Project, Kara Hamilton of Turning Point USA, Despina Batson of Illinois College Republicans, and high school student Jake Leahy of The Future of Liberty.

Participants can also learn about the 2016 Ballot Integrity Drive, and how to get involved in campaigns and in the election process.

The GOP Fall Rally is being organized by the Western Kane County Republican Organization, with its equity partners: Kane County Republican Central Committee, Kendall County Republican Central Committee, Aurora Township Republican Organization, and St. Charles Township Republican Organization.

The ballpark is at 34W002 Cherry Lane, off Kirk Road just south of Route 38 in Geneva. The rally will be held in the outfield decks, which offer both sheltered and open sky seating. Sept. 20 is not a game day.

Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased at www.FallRally.gop. Sponsorships, ads, and display space are also available. For more information, call (331) 234-8181.
