350 expected to participate in Schaumburg's Silver Games
The Silver Games, featuring competition among approximately 350 participants ages 62 and over, opened Thursday at the Schaumburg Park District Community Recreation Center.
Participants are competing in more than 32 events including quarterback toss, seated floor hockey, soccer penalty kicks and Sudoku in the games, which is in its eighth year and is sponsored by the park district and Friendship Village, among others. The games continue Friday, Sept. 11, and Sept. 14-16 next week.
"While the primary focus is celebrating seniors, the games are also a great example of the fun things that can happen through community partnerships, " Jeff Rose, Friendship Village lifestyles manager, said in a news release. "We have so many great resources in our community with whom we are able to collaborate for the event."
