Two injured in Lake Street crash in Bloomingdale

A portion of Lake Street in Bloomingdale remains closed while police investigate a crash that sent two people to a hospital around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The two people were traveling in a vehicle when it was involved in a crash with a semitrailer truck on Lake Street near Glen Ellyn Road, police said.

Bloomingdale Chief of Police Frank Giammarese said accident reconstructionists are investigating because of the crash's severity.

Westbound Lake Street is closed at Medinah Road and eastbound Lake Street is being diverted at Euclid Avenue while authorities investigate the crash. Giammarese says he expects Lake Street will remain closed until, at the earliest, 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The condition of the two taken to the hospital is unknown, Giammarese said, and nobody else was seriously injured.

“A couple of other vehicles may have been struck, causing only minor damage,” Giammarese said.

The direction the vehicle and truck were traveling is still under investigation.
