Little Free Library to open Tuesday in Palatine park

A new Little Free Library will be unveiled at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Falcon Park Recreation Center in Palatine.

According to a Palatine Park District news release, the "take a book, leave a book" box that will be free for public use, is the brainchild of Maria Schlup, a reading specialist at Lincoln School in Palatine. Schlup saw this opportunity as a way to get books into kids' hands. She is pursuing her doctorate in literacy.

The Little Library was built by Kathy and Bill Hatzold.

All are welcome to the ribbon cutting, which will feature light refreshments and appearances from local dignitaries. Falcon Park is located at 2195 N. Hicks Road.
