Richmond-Stillman Valley game postponed after fatal crash

Two people, including a Stillman Valley High School cheerleader, were killed in a two-vehicle accident Friday evening in rural Ogle County.

The Rockford Register Star reported that rescue personnel arrived about 5 p.m. to find a pickup truck in flames and a car occupied by three girls in a soybean field.

The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Ogle County sheriff's office, and one girl, identified by WREX-TV as a cheerleader, was pronounced dead at a Rockford hospital.

News of the fatal crash spread quickly in Stillman Valley. Many people were at the high school for a 7 p.m. football game against Richmond-Burton when news of the accident reached the stadium, the Rockford Register Star reported. The game was postponed.
