Training grant offered for McHenry manufacturers

The McHenry County Workforce Network has received a grant from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to provide industrial maintenance technician training.

The grant targets current workers with county manufacturers who need to enhance their skills in industrial maintenance.

Training will include coursework in maintenance management, robotics, electronics, PLC Automation, hydraulics, pneumatics, controls and manual machining and will be provided by McHenry County College.

The grant requires a 10-percent match, which can be met by contributing a portion of employee salary or fringe benefits.

There are still a few seats available for the training, which will begin Sept. 14 with OSHA 10-Hour Safety. Evening classes will begin in early October.

Deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 9. Registration is required by the employer prior to enrollment of employees.

For more information and registration materials, contact Julie Courtney, director of McHenry County Workforce Network, at (815) 334-2779 or jacourtn@co.mchenry.il.us.
