Schaumburg picks up first victory

Defending Mid-Suburban West girls volleyball champion Schaumburg earned its first win this season with a 25-14, 18-25, 25-18 triumph at South Elgin on Thursday.

The Saxons (1-1) were led on attack by senior Abbie Rahn who put down 13 kills while teammate Mallory Gerber added 9.

Christina Candotti (11 assists) and Jessica Hartzman (10 assist) set the attack.

St. Viator d. Wheeling: Visiting St. Viator (5-3) posted a 25-21, 25-10 as Carrie Leazer (6 kill), Alyssa Forbes (5), Michaela Mueller (4), Audrey Nuelle (4) and Gabi Thomas (3) led the Lions' attack set by Mueller (16 assist). Ellie Meyer led the backcourt with 18 digs.

Libertyville d. Buffalo Grove: Libertyville (8-1) posted a 25-22, 29-27 victory over the Bison (1-6), who were led on attack by Nadia Tarasova (7 kills), Kanella Kalyviaris (4) and Dana Stutzman (3).

Dundee-Crown d. Rolling Meadows: Dundee-Crown (3-0) posted a 25-22, 25-19 victory at Rolling Meadows (2-1), which was led Maddie Sellergren (5 kills) and Hannah Mickey (4).

Megan Slowik served 2 aces for the Mustangs Megan King (8 assists) and Megan Mich (7 assists) set the attack.

Christian Liberty d. Schaumburg Christian: Cassie Swiderek (3 kills, 2 aces), Lexi Lee (3 kill, 2 aces) and Emily Naubert (4 kills 3 aces) led the Chargers to a 27-25, 25-21 triumph.

Quentin Road d. Northland Royals: Quentin Road won 25-20, 25-21 over the Northland Royals, who were led by Emily Baldwin (4 aces), Carissa Kern (4 kills) and Lydia Schiller (3 kills) in the Home School League match.
