Buffalo Grove Days returns to help bid farewell to summer

Buffalo Grove Days returned Thursday for its annual five-day run featuring a carnival, craft and business fairs, parade, fireworks, barbecue challenge and free main stage entertainment.

The event, held in the area around Raupp Boulevard and Lake-Cook Road, is one of the last big festivals of the summer in the Northwest suburbs, competing with Schaumburg's Septemberfest, which opens Saturday.

Among the scheduled highlights Thursday was a bags tournament, bingo and carnival rides. The fest reopens at 5 p.m. Friday, and main stage performers include One Night Band at 7:30 p.m., Mike & Joe at 9 p.m. and Cowboy Jukebox at 10:30 p.m.
