19 marching bands to compete at Lake Park High School's Lancer Joust

Nearly 20 high school marching bands from Illinois and Wisconsin will perform Saturday, Sept. 12, during the 37th annual Lake Park Lancer Joust.

The all-day competition begins with an opening ceremony around 11:45 a.m. at the Lake Park West Campus, 500 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., Roselle. All of the bands are scheduled to perform in the preliminary competition.

Bands scheduled to compete represent the following high schools: Victor J. Andrew; Downers Grove South; Greendale, Wisconsin; H.D. Jacobs; Herscher; John Hersey; Lakes Community; Lemont; Lincoln-Way North; Lincoln-Way West; Lockport; Naperville Central; Naperville North; Plainfield Central; Plainfield North; Prospect; Wheaton North; Wheaton Warrenville South; and Wheeling.

The Lake Park Lancer Marching Band, with band Director Steve Pyter, will give an exhibition performance at 5:15 p.m. to close out the preliminary competition. The final competition, featuring the 10 top-scoring bands, is expected to begin about 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for students and seniors, and $30 for families (maximum of two adults and up to four students). Children 4 and younger are free.
