Hultgren to hold drawing for Pope Francis address simulcast in Washington

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (IL-14) has announced a ticket drawing for residents of the 14th Congressional District to see the address of His Holiness, Pope Francis, to a Joint Session of Congress via simulcast in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, Sept. 24.

Tickets are standing room only (wheelchair accessible) and provide entrance onto the U.S. Capitol's West Lawn for a viewing of an outdoor simulcast during the Joint Meeting of Congress, as well as a brief scheduled appearance by the Pope on the Capitol steps.

Each congressional office is awarded 50 tickets to distribute among their respective districts.

"Along with many devoted Catholics and people of all beliefs in the 14th District, I am excited about Pope Francis's first visit to the United States as he delivers the Christian message of love, hope, peace, justice and mercy," Rep. Hultgren said. "I am privileged to be able to distribute tickets to those who are interested and able to visit our nation's capital during the Pope's address."

Enter the drawing at hultgren.house.gov.

The deadline for submissions is Thursday, Sept. 10. Those chosen in the drawing will be notified by Friday, Sept. 11.

All winners will be responsible for their own transportation to Washington, D.C. as well as lodging and other trip costs. In the event that a winner is unable to use their tickets, the tickets will be reallocated to entrants on the waitlist.
