Hanover Township mental health board gives out $38,450 in grants
The Hanover Township mental health board awarded $38,450 in grants to local organizations that help residents living with disabilities.
The board awarded $25,000 in emergency funding to The Children's Advocacy Center based in Hoffman Estates for trauma services to children who have experienced family violence, and $5,106 in emergency funds to Countryside Association for People With Disabilities for in-home respite care.
Board Member Mary Alice Benoit said the emergency funds were issued in response to the budget impasse in Springfield.
"The township and the mental health board are committed to working with local agencies in preventing any disruption in services to our community," Benoit said.
Hanover Park's Little City was awarded a $6,000 capital grant to improve its facility in Hanover Park, and Geneva's Day One Network received a $1,400 staff development grant.
The Hanover Township Community Health Office also received $1,034 for staff funding.
