Elk Grove Township appoints Busse new clerk

The Elk Grove Township board appointed senior Trustee George Busse to fill the township clerk vacancy created Aug. 10 when former Clerk Greg O'Brien resigned because he moved outside the township.

The appointment of Busse has created a vacancy on the township board. Anyone interested in filling the vacancy is asked to submit a letter of interest to the township by 4 p.m. Friday Oct. 2. The letter must contain the applicant's name and address, and may include other documents, such as resumes.

Under state law, the person who fills the seat must be a Republican like Busse. The appointee must establish his or her party affiliation through a voting record in Republican Party primary elections or by holding or having held an office in a Republican Party organization. If the appointee has not voted in a Republican primary or has not held an office in a GOP organization, then the person can establish his or her affiliation by his or her record of participating in the party's nomination or election caucus.

Letters can be mailed to Elk Grove Township or delivered in person at 2400 S. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60005 - Attention Paul Pioch. Letters also can be emailed to PPioch@ElkGroveTownship.com.
