What's the most valuable card in your wallet? A Palatine Library card! September is National Library Card Signup Month, a time when libraries across the country remind everyone of the enormous value a library card brings.

In celebration of Library Card Signup Month, Palatine Public Library District announces Show Your Card and Save! From Sept. 1 through Sept. 30, participating businesses are offering savings, discounts, and freebies, for those who show their Palatine Library card. Savings from local businesses include automotive, communications, financial, fitness, food and drink, health and beauty, and shopping venues. Visit www.palatinelibrary.org for a list of participating local businesses.

Your Palatine Library card provides access to so much more than the wonderful collection of books, movies, music, and programs you've come to expect. Discover a wealth of 24/7 research tools, streaming and downloadable movies, music, and e-books, homework help, and educational resources online. We offer a wide variety of community events, helpful services, reservable meeting rooms and study spaces, and a state-of-the-art Digital Media Center. If you have not visited the library in a while, you will be delighted by the updated spaces and wide array of services and events for all ages.

To get a card, bring two forms of identification showing proof of residency within the district boundaries, and you will receive a welcome gift. Children under age 14 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian when applying for a card. To view a map of the service area, visit http://is.gd/palatinelibrarymap. Current cardholders will also receive a small thank you gift when they use their card at the library this September.
