New business gets new window designs

Eight students in visual technique class from the Art Institute, Schaumburg campus helped design the windows facing Milwaukee Avenue at the new bicycle shop Lifestyle Cycle in Libertyville Monday.

The students final project was to come up with a design for the new business owned by Fred and Jessica Kuehn of Libertyville. "Being a new business we don't have the expenses to pay someone to design our windows," said co-owner Jessica Kuehn. "My thought was to bring education here to help us and them at the same time," Kuehn said.

The students design used pieces of a disassembled bike that ended with a finished bike in the Milwaukee Avenue window.

"This is the best timing," said Visual Technique Teacher at the Art Institute in Schaumburg Tammy Tavassoli.

"I love it because they get first hand experience. They get to see what the client is looking for and then they can collaborate and brainstorm all as a whole class," said Tavassoli.

The class worked for about 3 hours on the windows facing Milwaukee and will return next Wednesday to do the windows facing Lincoln Avenue.

"I'm really excited. I love looking at windows. We doing more than just outing bikes on the floor, we are putting out heart and soul into this," said Kuehn.

Lifestyle Cycle opened its doors on July 29, 2015.

Fred Kuehn is the co-owner and head mechanic bringing 22 years of bike repair experience to the Libertyville area far surpassing the industry standard.

They offer everything form kids bikes to high end road bikes.
