Itasca celebrated its 125th anniversary of incorporation Sunday with an old-time, carnival-style party at the Itasca Historical Depot Museum.
The celebration included the reading of a proclamation from the Illinois General Assembly by Village President Jeff Pruyn, strolling singers, kids train rides, a bounce house, carnival games, face painting and more.
Dan Corcoran, co-chair of the 125th Anniversary Celebration, said among the highlights Sunday was Itasca historian Gerald Danzer telling visitors about the town's heritage and its dairy farming roots. Danzer talked about historical tools and logistics of the dairy industry that was key to the settling of the area in the mid-1800s.
A happy birthday sing-a-long and cupcakes helped celebrate the occasion for the village and its residents.
