Activities for beagles and their human friends are all part of the 13th Annual Beaglefest in Paws Park, 2800 W. Oakton St., Park Ridge. The Midwest Beagle Rescue, Education and Welfare (BREW) group hosts the event for current and previous beagle owners, potential beagle adopters and all dog enthusiasts. DeWyze at Durty Nellie's

Mount Prospect singer-songwriter Lee DeWyze's introduction to a nationwide audience was well documented as he entered and eventually won season 9 of "American Idol" in 2010. Since then he's released two albums (in addition to two he released before "Idol"), and his "Blackbird Song" - a song he wrote after a marathon viewing of "The Walking Dead" - was included in an episode of the show last season. DeWyze is playing an all-ages show with Anna Rose and Jordan Engelhardt Saturday at Durty Nellie's, 180 N. Smith St., Palatine. Hardcore fans can meet Lee before the show for an added cost. Southport, Chicago, to his catalog of blues-inspired rock songs. Mike Nutt, singer-songwriter for local Americana rock band Fletcher Rockwell, is teaming up with fiddler Heather Malyuk to open. With the full band, Nutt's FR songs harness the excitement and frenetic energy of a fun night out while staying grounded in the reality of a night at a bar.
