Greeted by their classmates in the marching band playing on the front steps, students arrived at Schaumburg High School early Thursday morning as classes resumed throughout Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211.
The school district is in the midst of an ambitious capital improvement program, and Schaumburg High School students were able to check out a recently completed new media center for the first time.
The summer also allowed for the completion of the new Higgins Education Center, just east of Hoffman Estates High School, where many of the district's special education programs will now be housed under one roof. An open house for the public will be held at center, 1030 W. Higgins Road in Hoffman Estates, from 4 to 7 p.m. next Thursday, Sept. 3.
The district also is replacing the swimming pools at all five high schools, though the one at Conant High School in Hoffman Estates is the only one already done.
