Music notes: Foo Fighters at bat Saturday

<h3 class="briefHead">Foo at the plate</h3>

It's hard to escape the Foo Fighters on the radio (not that you'd want to). If you live near Wrigley Field, it'll be even harder Saturday night as the Fighters make their way to Chicago for an outdoor concert. Rockford's Cheap Trick brings its stable of hits to open, along with Naked Raygun and Urge Overkill. Tickets are officially sold out, but they are available through various websites. 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Wrigley Field, 1060 W Addison St., Chicago. (773) 404-2827 or foofighters.com.

<h3 class="briefHead">DeWyze at Durty Nellie's</h3>

Mount Prospect singer-songwriter Lee DeWyze's introduction to a nationwide audience was well documented as he entered and eventually won season 9 of "American Idol" in 2010. Since then he's released two albums (in addition to two he released before "Idol"), and his "Blackbird Song" - a song he wrote after a marathon viewing of "The Walking Dead" - was included in an episode of the show last season. DeWyze is playing an all-ages show with Anna Rose and Jordan Engelhardt Saturday at Durty Nellie's in Palatine. Hardcore fans can meet Lee before the show for an added cost. 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Durty Nellie's, 180 N. Smith St., Palatine. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $50 for VIP seating; add on $40 for meet-and-greet tickets. (847) 358-9150 or durtynellies.com.

<h3 class="briefHead">Americana at Schubas</h3>

In what's becoming "American Idol" day in Chicago and the suburbs, "Idol" finalist Casey Abrams is coming to Chicago to treat Schubas to his catalog of blues-inspired rock songs. Mike Nutt, singer-songwriter for local Americana rock band Fletcher Rockwell, is teaming up with fiddler Heather Malyuk to open. With the full band, Nutt's FR songs harness the excitement and frenetic energy of a fun night out while staying grounded in the reality of a night at a bar. The addition of Malyuk's fiddle skills to his acoustic take on his songs should deliver an even folksier vibe to the rock. 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Schubas, 3159 N. Southport, Chicago. $17; (773) 525-2508 or lh-st.com.
