Where's coverage of Planned Parenthood?

I guess this is truly a letter to the editor. On Aug. 22, I joined hundreds of people, some estimates were 1,500, to protest and pray at the Planned Parenthood clinic in Aurora. There were diversities of opinions but our main purpose was to bring attention to new revelations of harvesting of organs from aborted babies.

First, I am absolutely amazed that my own regional newspaper, the Daily Herald, failed to cover this event. I have seen articles when 200 people gather at Daley Plaza in Chicago or 60 Occupy Wall Street demonstrators come to Naperville. Secondly, I am disappointed in our media in general for failing to give better coverage to the undercover videos that have questioned the practices at PP clinics.

There have been more articles and TV time given to Cecil the lion and dogs locked in hot cars this summer. Granted, the videos that recently surfaced were edited but now new unedited versions are available.

Even if Planned Parenthood is following the letter of the law and the money exchanged is for "processing fees, shipping and handling," there is no doubt that gruesome procedures are occurring to obtain intact organs. This is not just "tissue" donation. These fetuses (Latin for "little one") are fully formed humans, 99 percent easily recognizable as such. The facts surrounding this new story also highlight the horrendous reality of abortion.

I and others expect our news media to do their jobs and their own investigating on this and other issues. We can't rely on blasts from social media that spread like wildfire with very little back story to provide the facts. Ask the tough questions, interview those from both sides, check your sources, but please don't remain silent.
