Northwestern Mutual's McTigue Financial Group raises more than $19,000 for childhood cancer research

Northwestern Mutual's McTigue Financial Group in Rosemont impacted the fight against childhood cancer by raising more than $19,000 for lifesaving research. The local office was one of the top Northwestern Mutual offices nationwide to raise funds for childhood cancer research by competing in the company's annual Race for Research. Funds raised by these offices will benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), the nonprofit partner for Northwestern Mutual's Childhood Cancer Program.

Each year, approximately 604 cases of cancer and 84 cancer-related deaths occur among Illinois children ages 0-19, according to the Illinois State Cancer Registry. The McTigue Financial Group has raised a total of $41,323 locally since 2012, funding 826 hours of lifesaving research.

"We're proud to be a part of Race for Research, a tradition at Northwestern Mutual to collectively raise awareness and money for childhood cancer research and to help families and kids when they need it the most," said John W. McTigue, Managing Partner of Northwestern Mutual's McTigue Financial Group. "Our office is committed to supporting childhood cancer in our communities, and we have a goal to raise $130,000 for the cause this year."

The monies raised by The McTigue Financial Group will support researchers' efforts to find breakthrough treatments and cures for childhood cancers. Thousands of Northwestern Mutual employees and financial professionals nationwide supported the cause by raising funds in their communities. Since June 2015, they have collectively raised more than $515,000, which will fund 10,300 hours of childhood cancer research for the organization. Northwestern Mutual honored these volunteer efforts to bring awareness and funds to childhood cancer, its signature philanthropic cause, at the company's annual meeting in Milwaukee.
