Walker Bros. pancake house coming to Schaumburg

Walker Bros., The Original Pancake House, will open a Schaumburg location in the late spring of 2016 at the former Applebee's building in the village's Town Square, according to the company's website.

As late as Tuesday night, Schaumburg officials said they still did not have authority to reveal the identity of the breakfast-lunch restaurant moving into 18 S. Roselle Road.

Village officials recently found success landing new tenants for not only the former Applebee's in Town Square, but also the shopping center's former Dominick's store - two significant vacancies in the commercial development on southwest the corner of Schaumburg and Roselle roads.

Itasca-based Tony's Finer Foods bought the Dominick's building in late July. The company now plans to spend $6 million improving the building before opening in early to mid-2016.

Schaumburg has one other vacant Dominick's, at the southwest corner of Meacham and Higgins roads. Though a non-grocery retailer has the building under contract, village officials say they are not yet able to reveal the company's identity.
