College of DuPage Hosts 'Writing on the Edge' Conference on Sept. 19

College of DuPage will host "Writing on the Edge: Adjuncts Transforming Composition in the 21st Century" from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, in the Student Resource Center, Room 2000, on the College's main campus, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.

Sponsored by Pearson PLC, Cengage Learning, MacMillan Publishers and Toolwire, this exclusive conference aims to bring together English and ESL adjunct faculty engaged in the teaching of writing across platforms and to provide opportunities for information sharing and networking. Sessions will focus on the work of adjuncts to further composition pedagogy and address topics in multimodal literacy, technology in the classroom, positive student engagement and enhanced professional practice.

During the conference, the keynote presentation "The Power of Narrative Thinking" will be delivered by celebrated educator Bruce Ballenger, author of seven books including the best-selling textbooks "The Curious Writer" and "The Curious Researcher."

A pre-conference event titled "Pathways: A Career Event for Contingent Faculty," will be held from 6 to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, in the Student Resource Center, Room 2000, on the College's main campus. Presented by Academic Affairs, Career Services and the Office of Adjunct Faulty Affairs at College of DuPage, this event will showcase a panel of higher education and industry professionals discussing career path alternatives and avenues for adjunct faculty.

Registration for these events is required and seating is limited. Please click here to register. The Early Bird rate is $25 by Sept. 5 and $40 after that date. This fee includes breakfast, lunch and entry into all sessions.
