Join a Sunset Sing-Along and Food Drive Aug. 30

The Fox River Band, the Brothers From The Shire, Miss Bethany Diaz, and the Sunset Coalition Choir will perform favorite gospel songs and hymns during the Sunset Singalong and Food Drive from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, at the Bruce Ream Park shelter, 400 W. Jefferson Ave. in Hampshire.

This ecumenical, open-air event is free and open to the public.

The audience is invited to bring school supplies or nonperishable items for the Burlington-Hampshire Food Pantry, which will be collected that evening by the Hampshire Lions Club.

There will be picnic table seating, or bring your lawn chair.

The Fox River Band was originally known as The Good Ol' Boys, specializing in gospel music. As their music evolved to include folk, bluegrass, country, and easy living, their name changed and they now perform weekly at Corleone's Restaurant in Lake Geneva. Visit foxriverband.com.

The Brothers from The Shire are Hampshire neighbors John Gehringer and Nils von Keudell, who often sing together at Zion United Methodist Church and for the Hampshire Lions Club.

Gehringer's granddaughter, Bethany Diaz, is the Hampshire Middle School student who sang the national anthem the past few years at the opening ceremony of Hampshire Coon Creek Country Days.

The Sunset Coalition Choir is a short-term choir consisting of local residents who love to sing. They have been rehearsing at 7 p.m. Thursdays and welcome others to join them at Zion United Methodist Church, 157 W. Jefferson Ave. in Hampshire. Visit zionunitedmethodistchurchofhampshire.com.

For information, call John Gehringer at (847) 683-2501 daytime hours, or (224) 425-9015 evenings.
