Palatine Parks Presents Feet Fest 3K

Palatine Park District presents the 12th annual Feet Fest 3K Family Fun Run/Walk on Sunday, August 30, 2015. This family friendly event, presented by Palatine Bank & Trust, will begin at 8:30am at Towne Square, 150 W. Palatine Road, Palatine. The pre-registration deadline for the race is Friday, August 21 at 4:30pm. The fee is $10 for pre-registration, or $15 on race day. Family and team discounts are available, through August 21 at 4:30pm. All participants will receive a race goody bag and a t-shirt. The race will have a timed finish. Dogs and rollerblades are not allowed on the course; gear check will not be available.

Pre-registration through August 21 can be done online at www.palatineparks.org, by mail to Palatine Park District, 250 E. Wood Street, Palatine, IL 60067, by fax to 847-202-7317, or in person at Community Center, Birchwood Recreation Center, or Falcon Park Recreation Center. Race day registration will be accepted at Towne Square beginning at 7:30am on Sunday, August 30. Family and team discounts will not be available on race day. Packet pick-up for pre-registered participants will be available in the Community Center, 250 E. Wood Street, Palatine, on Friday, August 28 from 12:00pm to 7:00pm and on Saturday, August 29 from 8:00am to 1:00pm. Packet pick-up on race day will begin at 7:30am at Towne Square.

As part of the race event, Palatine Park District has teamed up with Packages 4 Patriots to host a Feet Fest Sock Drive for those serving in the military. Packages 4 Patriots creates care packages that are shipped to all branches of the military including the Navy, Marines, Army, Air Force and Coast Guard. NEW SOCKS, in the packaging, will be collected at the annual Feet Fest 3K Family Fun Run on Sunday, August 30 at Towne Square and at the Palatine Park District Street Fest Booth on August 29 and 30. Socks that are needed include: black and brown socks, black ankle socks, brown boot socks, white crew socks (no tube socks please), and running socks.

After the race, a Pancake Breakfast will once again be offered by the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 690. From 8:30am to 11:00am on August 30, the Legion will offer an all you can eat event with pancakes, French toast, sausage, ham, scrambled eggs, fruit, orange juice, coffee and milk. The pancake breakfast will be open to the public; the cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children ages 6 to 12, and $6 for adults wearing a Feet Fest race bib. Children ages 5 and under are free. The Pancake Breakfast will be held at American Legion Post 690, 122 W. Palatine Road, located at the Feet Fest finish line.

Feet Fest 2015 is made possible by a variety of community partners. The 2015 presenting sponsor is Palatine Bank & Trust and this year's post-race refreshment sponsor is Jewel-Osco on Plum Grove Road in Palatine.
