Police searching for missing Hoffman Estates man

Police are searching for Hoffman Estates resident Steven Sanchez, who went missing after attending the Chicago Air and Water Show on Saturday.

The 50-year-old man was last seen Saturday around 8 p.m. near Burnham Harbor, Chicago, officials said. He was on his way to the Inverness area but did not show up, authorities said.

About a half-hour later, Illinois State Police found Sanchez's motorcycle and cellphone abandoned near I-290 and I-94, authorities said.

Hoffman Estates police Sgt. Kasia Cawley said the motorcycle had minor damage, but nothing indicated a major crash.

Police are not aware of any foul play, she said.

Sanchez's family reported him missing Sunday morning, officials said. He has brown eyes and long brown hair usually in a ponytail, his daughter, Ginger Sanchez, wrote in a Facebook post Sunday.

"This is not something that my father would do, and all I want is to find my dad," she said.

The Hoffman Estates Police Department, the Chicago Police Department and the Illinois State Police are investigating Sanchez's disappearance.

Anyone with information about Sanchez should call Hoffman Estates police at (847) 882-1818.
