Chicago Wolves sign Scooter Vaughan
The Chicago Wolves announced Friday they have signed defenseman Scooter Vaughan to a contract for the 2015-16 season.
The 26-year-old Placentia, California, native spent last season with the American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, where he amassed 9 goals, 7 assists and 102 penalty minutes in 71 games.
The 6-foot, 195-pound blueliner has split his three-plus professional seasons between the Sound Tigers (18 goals, 14 assists in 122 games) and the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays (8 goals, 20 assists in 70 games) and Wheeling Nailers (1 goal, 5 assists in 20 games).
Prior to turning pro in 2011, Vaughan played for four seasons at the University of Michigan. After serving as a defenseman his first two years, he switched to forward and compiled 16 goals and 14 assists during his last two years. The Wolverines reached the NCAA Tournament all four seasons, which included a run to the NCAA Frozen Four championship game during his senior year.
