Bring the family to Batavia's Corn Boil

On Friday, Aug. 21, the kick­off for Batavia High School fall athletics and marching band season, stop by the Corn Boil, a community event where families can enjoy a meal of brats and corn, plus purchase spirit wear and support all Batavia Unit District 101 athletes.

The Corn Boil draws Batavians of all ages for food and performances by the BHS marching band, cheer teams and dance teams. Various sports practices also will take place during the event in Bulldog Stadium.

The corn boil will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Batavia High School, 1201 Main St.; use the Wilson Street entrance.

Menu includes hot dog or brat, ear of corn, chips, water or soda. Cost is $7, $6 for students, $4 for seniors 65 and older and $25 for a family of four, with $5 for each additional family member.

At 7:30 p.m., student athletes involved in fall season sports and their parents are invited to attend an informational meeting in the gymnasium hosted by Dave Andrews, Batavia High School's assistant principal for operations and athletic director.
