Hanover Park on target with 2015 budget, village manager says

The Village of Hanover Park is on target with spending and revenue after the first six months of the fiscal year, Village Manager Juliana Maller has reported.

"For the most part revenues are at or above what was budgeted," Maller said at Thursday's village board meeting.

The manager's office reviewed all year-to-date spending, and found that as of June 30, revenue exceeded spending by $1,149,461.

Spending is lower than originally expected due to personnel cuts and fewer seasonal-related capital projects, according to the report.

And Village President Rod Craig said spending has remained conservative due to uncertainties in the state government.

"With the state throwing curve balls every week, we've been trying to keep expenditures low," he said. "The state isn't sending us the revenue we expected, especially not for roads."

The village operates on a calendar year budget, and is in the process of crafting its 2016 spending plan that will be filed in December.

Budget recommendations and requests from the village are due to the manager by Aug. 14.

The Hanover Park village board will seek comments and suggestions on next year's budget from residents throughout the process at public meetings, Maller said.
