Lisle Park Distict to dedicate donated land

Lisle Park District will acknowledge the donation by the Dryszel family of a roughly 1.25-acre parcel at 5516 River Road with a public dedication at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15.

The park district was contacted by Annette Kopecky, granddaughter of the property's owner, Theresa Dryszel, in 2014. Kopecky inquired about the park district's interest in accepting the property, which is located immediately south and west of River Road Park and immediately north of the River Bend Golf Club.

The park district and Dryszel family completed the donation of the land gift late last fall, and the house and garage on the property were removed by the park district over the winter.

Executive Director Dan Garvy said more work will be done on the site over the next several months.

"While some site clearing has occurred, there is a bit more to do to blend this lot into the adjacent River Road Park," he said,

"The park district is eternally grateful for this tremendous act of generosity on behalf of the Dryszel family," Garvy added.

A poem the Dryszel family crafted to embody the many memories the property formed over the past 60-plus years has been memorialized in an aluminum plaque. The park district plans to unveil the permanent display at the site dedication on Saturday.
