Arts in Bartlett presents Taiwan exhibit

Arts in Bartlett presents "The Beauty of Taiwan," an international traveling exhibit, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays through Aug. 22 at the Bartlett Village Hall 2nd Floor Gallery, 228 Main St., in Bartlett.

To promote art and cultural exchange with Taiwan and Bartlett, who is celebrating the five-year anniversary of the Sister City International Exchange with Miaoli, Taiwan, a Taiwanese fine art group has organized an art exhibition at the Village of Bartlett in August.

This event is organized by the Midwest Hakka Association, with international art curator Huan H. Su curating this international collaboration and cultural exchange program.

The art exhibition contains 25 oil paintings from 20 famous Taiwanese artists in a traveling exhibit from Taiwan to the United States at three places, including Illinois and Hawaii, through September.

The themes of these paintings cover the Taiwanese traditions, Hakka culture, religious characters, aboriginal islander, the skyscraper Taipei 101, the Jade Mountain and scenery from all over Taiwan. The styles and art concepts of paintings range from contemporary art, realism and abstraction to impressionism.

A gallery reception will be from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at the Bartlett village hall, in the 2nd Floor Gallery, 228 S. Main St. The reception is free.
