Gurnee Fire Department receives new ambulance

It was a moment of celebration at the Gurnee Fire Station as Warren-Waukegan President Phillip DeRuntz turned over the keys to a new ambulance to Gurnee Mayor Kristina Kovarik.

Both spoke of being grateful for the supportive community they lived in and for the professional staff that provides critical public safety services. They thanked each other for helping to build a collaborative intergovernmental relationship that benefits citizens within the community and from across the county who visit Gurnee's many attractions.

The new ambulance provides state-of-the-art life safety technologies that were specified by the Gurnee fire-medics through an inclusive design process.

The new ambulance also features energy-saving LED technologies and personnel protective systems such as the Stryker Power-Pro hydraulic stretcher lift system to keep the fire-medics and patients safe.
