Bandits boast 2-win day

Monday morning, Emily Allard made her return to the Bandits lineup after missing three games due to a wrist injury. Monday afternoon, she propelled them to a late comeback victory over the Akron Racers in the back half of a doubleheader that began with a 3-0 no-hitter over the Pennsylvania Rebellion.

Against the Racers, Allard had a game-tying single late and Taylor Edwards came through with her third walk-off of the season in the seventh to send the Bandits to a 2-win day.

The early game had originally been scheduled for Sunday afternoon, but a microburst that tore through Rosemont forced a postponement. The game against Akron was scheduled to be played at 7:05 p.m., but concerns over the proper functioning of the light fixtures at the stadium forced the game to be played in the afternoon. It has been a whirlwind for the Bandits the last few days, to say the least.

"To come back after a day like yesterday and be present and attentive and energetic was something to be proud of," Allard said. "It was a big reality check to step back on the field and play for something one thousand times bigger than ourselves and leave it all out here whether we won or lost. We're incredibly happy to come away with 2 wins."

The Bandits will be back in action at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday for game two of their three-game set against the Racers.
