Call to visual artists for neXt gallery
The neXt gallery is a very successful initiative of the St. Charles Arts Council. The gallery on West Main Street will be the 16th gallery in this program. One hundred percent of the selling price of the work goes to the artist. The galleries are actively promoted in social and print media, and the artwork is insured. This neXt gallery will be part of the art council's third annual ArtsFest.
ArtsFest St. Charles is a citywide, all-arts event set for Sept. 11-20. The pop-up gallery will be open Sept. 11 to Oct. 4. The artists reception will be 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, which will coincide with the "Hidden Artist Auction." More information about the event may be found on the website. The ArtsFest event will include multiple visual art venues throughout the city.
Entries for West Main Street can be in any style or medium of visual art.
The jury fee is waived for members or $20 for nonmembers, regardless of the number of pieces submitted. The fee is nonrefundable. Fees can be mailed to St. Charles Arts Council, 2 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL 60174, or it can be paid online through the website's donation page. Artists interested in becoming a member can visit to StCharlesArtsCouncil.org and click on "Donations" to make your membership payment.
All submissions must be electronic. There is no form to fill out. Email the requested information and images of your submitted work to ArtistLiaison@StCharlesArtsCouncil.org.
Artists may submit up to six pieces for jurying. Jurors may select one or more pieces from each artist. All submissions must include the following information for each image: title of the piece, medium, dimensions, and selling price.
If you wish to submit an entry, email jpeg images of the artwork that you would like to enter in the show. They will accept only emailed entries. Each image should be 500 KB or less. Any questions about or help with this requirement, contact (630) 443-3794 or ArtistLiaison@StCharlesArtsCouncil.org.
Images must be submitted by 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17. Artists will be notified of the jury's selection on or by Friday, Aug. 21.
The gallery will be staffed by volunteers and artists. It is not mandatory for artists to staff the gallery, but it is strongly encouraged.
The artwork will be in the gallery on consignment.
The St. Charles Arts Council is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, and cannot take a commission on artwork sold. The artist will receive 100 percent of the selling price of their work. Illinois state sales tax will be collected, and will be the responsibility of the artist to pay to the State. The arts council has liability insurance to cover the insurance value of the art in the gallery. All artwork must be ready to hang/install. Sculpture pedestals/stands must be provided by the artist. All artwork must be for sale. Delivery and pickup of the artwork will be the artist's responsibility.
