Des Plaines looking for public art to display this fall

A public pop-up art exhibit, Art Moves Des Plaines, is taking place in Metropolitan Square this fall, and organizers with the Des Plaines Arts Council are now looking for artists who want to display their work in the show.

The artwork will be displayed in one of the storefronts of the shopping center. Artists are invited to apply for the show at desplaines.org/artmoves by Aug. 15. Jurying and selection of artwork to be displayed will be announced by Aug. 31.

A reception will take place in October after the artwork is installed in coordination with the art council's Des Arts event.

City officials said they worked with the owners of Metropolitan Square to secure the space for the temporary art installation.
