$100,000 bond for Antioch man on child porn charges

An Antioch man faces child pornography charges after a monthslong investigation by the cybercrime units from both the Lake County sheriff and state's attorney's offices, officials said.

Donald E. Mueller, 58, of the 41000 block of N. Route 83, was arrested Friday and charged with three counts of possession of child pornography, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Officials said an examination of Mueller's electronic media devices revealed images of children younger than 13. Because there was such a large number of images, investigators say there could be additional charges against Mueller.

Following a bond hearing Saturday morning, Mueller was remanded to the custody of the Lake County Jail. To be released, he must post 10 percent of his bond, which was set at $100,000. His next court date is Aug. 13.
