Huntley library app gets an upgrade

The Huntley Area Public Library app, available for both Android and Apple devices, received an upgrade this month.

In addition to getting rebranded with the library's new logo and the already available features, app users may now access many of the library's free online resources in one place.

With the app, users can learn a new language with Mango Languages, take an online course with Gale Courses, explore over 300 reference books with Gale Virtual Reference Library, find new authors and titles to enjoy with Novelist and NextReads, and gain online access to automobile repair, maintenance and service information in the ChiltonLibrary.

eBook options have also been improved and patrons have access to Overdrive digital books, Freegal digital music downloads, Zinio digital magazines and the Tumblebook digital library directly from the app.

These upgrades enhance the already existing Huntley Area Public Library app features:

• Catalog search

• Place holds and renew materials

• Checkout materials and use your virtual library card

• Chat with a Librarian, Library Locator

• Find events and programs on the library's calendar

• Interact with the library on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube etc.)

• Downloadable product and database access

• Enhanced App navigation bar

The library's app, powered by Boopsie (www.boopsie.com) was recently featured as a Boopsie Rock Star at ALA's annual conference in San Francisco, Calif. ALA is the oldest and largest library association in the world and holds its annual conference and exhibition each summer. It was attended by more than 25,000 librarians, library supporters, educators, writers, publishers, Friends of Libraries, trustees and special guests.

Future planned updates to the Huntley Area Public Library app will include a Spanish translation option. To download and learn more about library apps and how to use them on your devices, visit www.huntleylibrary.org/library-apps.

The library is at 11000 Ruth Road, Huntley. For information, call (847) 669-5386 or visit www.huntleylibrary.org.
