Festival of the Arts time in Libertyville
The David Adler Music and Arts Center will host the Annual Festival of the Arts, a juried arts festival, in Cook Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 1-2. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the event, which will feature a craft booth for kids, a Youth Art division, and the MainStreet Libertyville Dessert Walk.
"Our Festival of the Arts is unique. It's in the center of town. It's local, intimate - not commercial - it's a true festival," Adler Center Executive Director Amy Williams said.
This year, families attending the Festival of the Arts will be able to enjoy a special arts and crafts booth. Children can make their very own masterpieces as they enjoy the festival with their families.
For the second year, the David Adler Music and Arts Center will partner with Mainstreet Libertyville to host the MainSweet Dessert Walk. From noon to 3 p.m. Aug. 1, stroll around downtown Libertyville and sample tasting-sized portions of desserts at participating shops and restaurants. Tickets may be purchased for $15 at the MainStreet Libertyville festival booth.
The Festival of the Arts is organized by the not-for-profit David Adler Music and Arts Center and relies on local sponsors and volunteers. The Festival of the Arts provides artists with an opportunity to sell their work and meet their peers, and gives local arts patrons the chance to meet their favorite artists and purchase one-of-a-kind works.
"We are here to support the artists. We see many artists returning year after year, and the community returns year after year to see their favorite artists," Williams said.
This year's festival includes vibrant works by Carla Banks, photo-realistic cityscapes by Michael Normand, and bold minimalistic canvasses by Patricia Rodgers.
Located in the historic home of architect David Adler, the David Adler Music and Arts Center is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to making music and the arts an integral part of everyday life. Its year-round activities are designed to foster engagement and achievement in the arts for the people of Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin.
The David Adler Music and Arts Center is at 1700 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville.
